How siteMETA Works
siteMETA is a convenient tool to add a high quality and fast search service to your site. It consists of 3 modules: search service, web interface, administrator's interface.
Search service is a stand alone program that can perform indexing and searching at the same time. After siteMETA is installed, the search service requests website pages with a given frequency, starting at given URL(s). As soon as retrieved pages get indexed, they become available for search. For further indexing the search service uses links from indexed pages. The search service works in a background module. New and updated pages are automatically added to the index.
Web interface module connects a web server and siteMETA search service. It transports a query to the search service and forms search result pages. Returned results are ranged according to the relevance algorithm: quantity of query words entries in a document, their location in a document, proximity, word significance, formatting elements used for these words and for the whole document.
Administrator's interface is for the search service administration purpose. It allows to create a start URL list and site indexing schedule, indicate which folders, documents and file types are to be indexed and which ones are not.
siteMETA also includes morphological support of the English language. Morphological support allows to find documents containing not only query words in the exact word form they were given but in all their word forms. It also works correctly with words not included in the dictionaries such as neologisms, abbreviations, personal names.
Advanced users can make complex queries using Boolean, sequential, proximity and other search operators.
